    Dependent ID cards

Is there any legal way to get back a dependent ID card for an ex-wife? She won't give it back because she likes to use it for the free stuff real dependents get (discounts and free admission to Sea World/Knotts)

If she's not a dependent then she has no legal right to the card, and any time she uses that card to obtain some benefit based on supposedly being something that she is not ... that's called fraud.

Since it's a Federal ID ... might be worth mentioning to, say, the FBI ... with a copy in hand of your divorce decree ...

Last time I checked it was felony to use a military ID card that wasn't yours/expired.

Here in lies the issue. I've also heard tales of people that ets being allowed to keep their ID card as a memento, hence I want to ask some questions at the ID card section first.

If it was me and she is hitting up a local commissary or exchange, I'd give security office a heads up and they'll BOLO and take her ID away if she tries to come through the gate again.

Now I don't know the terms of your divorce situation, but if you have a joint custody agreement with the kids she may have an argument as to why she needs the card or privileges to get stuff for the actual military dependent(s).

In that case, the kid(s) would have an ID, not the mom. She is no longer a depnendent and is supposed to surrender her ID.

Anybody I knew who got out through proper channels had to turn in their ID card. I'd make an appointment with legal and talk to an attorney and get an official legal advice. That or give DIS a call.

If you are already on unfriendly terms I would just flat out tell her to turn it over or you will turn her in for fraud.
