    Heading to VA

    Hey guys,

got orders out of Pensacola....heading to Virginia: VRC40.

Anybody got the low down on the area and what to look out for law wise (guns and other weird stuff)? I have never been there, so this is going to be completely new for me.

Not so sure on various laws but the gun laws are pretty "lax", especially compared to CA.

Pretty comprehensive and can probaly explain better than me. Just watch out for speeding tickets, their ridiculously expensive. State taxes arent too great and not too much to do(if your the partying type) but then again DC and MD is just a few hours away.

I dont tend to speed, and not the party type, so no worries there. I have a friend that is getting stationed at the Pentagon, so I will probably hang with him when I am at home.

Norfolk, I presume? The Pentagon is a hike from there.

VCDL.org is our state version of the NRA.

Talking on the phone or texting while driving is still legal. If you want to drink liquor on Sunday, buy it on Saturday, and only at the state run stores that charge an arm and a leg.

Ask me if you have any specifics.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

I was recently stationed at Fort Lee, VA. It's a great place if you like colonial/Civil War history. The entire state is home to many military bases and people are very military friendly. Richmond and Virginia Beach are the best cities to have fun in. It's very hot in the summer.

Cant be any hotter than Pensacola, so I am ok with that. Yes, Norfolk.

Do you need an inspection if your vehicle is registered out of state? Also, will I need an inspection to get decals?

I think all they care about is your CAC. At least, that's all I ever had to present when I went to Norfolk.
