When did you Blue Phase?????

We were in formation in our Class A's (ASU's as they call them). The Drill Sgt's swapped out our white banner for a blue one without any fanfare. Then we did a right face and marched to graduation.

So we were in Blue Phase for all about half a mile that it took to march to the graduation ceremony, and then we were done with BCT.

I remeber the Blue Banner having very crisp creases, and a deep blue color, unlike the very fadded, tattered, and tired red and white banners.

I remember being rather annoyed, and thinking, "really? who really cares at this point?".

THose will probably be the on;y stories he has at first. Although my company never left red phase, we were always in trouble, at one point we had a snickers bar as our guideon.

I don't know EOD School pretty much erased all of Basic Training.

Right now, in AIT that's all anyone has. But I hear yea, when I'm out of AIT and in a Unit BCT stories don't compare to deployment ones.

Its fine. You'll soon learn that bootcamp stories are best kept between those who you went to bootcamp with. Right now, its the highlight of your career, so go ahead and talk about it.

Don't try to wow us with how your drill sergeant has three deployments, or how you went to the hardest BCT company there is in TRADOC, and everywhere else is Candyland. We've been doing the war thing for the last ten years and you aren't the first person who's gone to basic. In my unit when kids come and try to wow us with basic training stories, we've got a lot of tricks up our sleeves to make fun of you terribly.

WTF? I think it was evenly split so like 3 weeks in each phase.

For most people it's what life become after they get out since most will get out after their first tour.

Wow, that was a long time ago(1983), but we started out with a yellow guidon(3 wks). For BRM, we got a red guidon(2 wks) and the final phase was a blue guidon(3 wks). Each change was done in company formation in BDU's.

BCT stories are best kept to yourself or shared with your best buddies/newbies/cherries.

yep. i had a Soldier tell me he could change an engine out on a HMMWV and all. but when i told him to change the fuel filter he had no idea what he was doing. i told him if you want to impress me do this A-service then i might believe you.

I was in an office with this new Private and he was telling me how tough he is cause he went to Fort Benning and I went to Fort Jackson. Then he failed his PT test and was having emotional issues while deployed. lol yeah real tough there.
