Educate me on MARSOC!

I have a friend I grew up with and haven't spoken to in a while. He passed away this week, and was currently active in the USMC. I learned he became part of a MARSOC team and deployed to the middle east. I had heard he had seen combat several times, but now I am curious what exactly MARSOC missions may consist of, would they be working side by side Rangers and SEALS?

Marsoc does bad things to bad people. They work alongside many Operators in the SF community, as well as many foreign forces as well. They are elite warriors and highly trained. What else do you want?

Mainly curious if they are more of a strike force (get in, and get out), small units.

MARSOC is the special operations arm of the Marine Corps. They operate as directed by JSOC to include direct action mission, HVT missions, and enduring missions such as training foreign military's and militia's. A lot of what they do in OEF is hunter/killer missions. It's just our way of playing in the Joint Special Operations world. Ironically, the Marine Corps still has to provide them with a lot of their gear, but they get money from JSOC for cool stuff.
