The only thing that sucks is that I'm gonna be away from my wife and two kids for almost 6 months(basic + 12 weeks at AIT). How did you married fathers handle it? I know I'm not allowed to bring my cell phone to Basic but what about AIT?

Being away from the family is never really easy. You get numb to it when your gone, but it really sets in when you come back home and realize that your kids didn't stop growing and your wife developed a routine that you have to mead into(thats not necessarily easy sometimes.) The initial 6 months should be the least of your concerns. You have alot ahead of you. Good luck! and have fun. Bill

How important is the Future Soldier training? My recruiter says they all meet every Tues and Wed to practice drills and do PT. Currently working retail, I dont have a set schedule so its really hard to go.
