first advice to you is not to post where you are going and when. OPSEC.

Don't worry about it, it is what it is. Your probably going to take to much stuff with you anyways and will use only 30% of the crap you are required to take. Besides what your unit lays out in the packing list take a laptop, an iPod and a portable harddrive with as many movies and tv shows on it that you can get, and a bible if you are into that stuff.

It sucks! I am approaching my one year mark soon. It has moon dust just like Iraq, the roads are not well kept, the DFACs are horrible, and we get a fairly regular supply of IDF. The NATO Gym and USO are amazing, those are two things to look forward to.

I always thought that any air base was nice. If you've got restaurants, working plumbing, and massive MWR centers, then you got it nice. That being said I at least had working plumbing where I was.

yep smaller groups are better. i only had maybe 10 people that i worked with. much better than the BN being up your butt all day.
