Well after a long journey the time has finally come. I swear in in two days for the army. Mos 15w. Very excited for the new journey in life. Just thought I would share. Lol. Is there any advice that you guys have? I go to basic in ft. Jackson.

Congrats!

I went OSUT at Benning and it was alot of fun.

Don't take it too hard and have a positive mental attitude.

Try to blend in, don't volunteer for anything, and don't get caught.

Work on pushups and situps.

If you do run, take it easy so that you don't hurt yourself.

I was at Fort Jackson in the 90's and after BCT I had a great time. Forget that "Relaxin' Jackson" crap and show up with your war face on.

do not volunteer cannot be stressed enough. you'll love bct. you'll hate the first few weeks then after that the DS turn cool and the PT gets more fun. That would be during the day PT not morning PT.

Well, I've got 11 days until im out of the Army. Served 4 years with 2 tours of Iraq. And i loved every minute of it. I dont really have any reason why im getting out but I like to say that "I've had my fun." So, good luck Brother and befriend a good senior Specialist or NCO when you get to your actual unit (after BCT and AIT) to help mentor you. AND FOR GODS SAKE LISTEN TO THEM!!!

i've had 4 really good nco's.

one sgt would cover for my buddy and I when we were at battalion working instead of showing up for end formation. So we were able to finish up work and then leave from there. it was kind of nice. but we were 3 infantry guys in a battalion full of support group.

Be positive, motivated, and do volunteer as much as you can. You will get smoked, yelled at, and put on crappy details. You will want to quit but search deep down in that heart of yours and have pride in what you are doing. You will gain so much and only after you leave and look back will you realize what a great thing it was and DON'T ever get married your first enlistment. Always date more than one girl. I can not express it any other way. Relationships blow in the military, but I only speak for myself. It is part of the human condition that will challenge you physically, mentally, and psychologically all at once in a controlled environment.

With everyone saying don't volunteer, what happens when no one does.

I guess the fun is shared randomly.
