EOD is a science of vague assumptions based on debatable data taken from inconclusive experiments with instruments of problematic accuracy by persons of questionable mentality.

If I remember correctly yes it is Congress that has to approve the Medal of Honor for any recipient to be awarded. I could be wrong though.

We were the last boat to carry this flag in the original tradition. Now every boat carries it.The tradition is lost.

"The Medal of Honor is the nation's highest military award for bravery. It is awarded by the President in the name of Congress. For this reason, it is often referred to as the Congressional Medal of Honor."

So as I understand it Congress gives the OK and the President gived it to the Marine.

Is there any way we can just reserve this thread for "Hoo-rahs" and "attaboys", and save the bashing of the POTUS for the many threads in OT that are created specifically for that purpose?

              That said- Attaboy

It seems we're finally starting to reward some of the bravery and heroic antics our brothers are engaging in. Almost 10 years of war without a MoH, and now we have three confirmed, and I'm sure more being reviewed.

What's weird is I knew him and were both stationed out of Hawaii. Of all the times we ate at the chow hall he never once mentioned anything about it. He just said they put him up for a high award and left it at that. Good for him. Also served with the other living MOH recipiant Army SSgt Giunta up in the Korengal Valley, Kunar Province, Afghanistan. It feels kind of weird having known both of these great men. What are the odds??

Good on them and what they have done.
