A question for our milspec folks with PVS14 experience, what do you all think of the PVS14s? Do any of you own them? Is there something of equal value/size that might be better by design or function within the same price range? Shoot me your thoughts, id greatly appreciate it. I also appreciate and thank you for your service, BTW!.

I would recommend a pvs14 above a pvs7 any day. The 14 can be used as a monocular or as part of a scope illumination solution. Can't do that with the 7's.

The "civilian equivalent" products on the market are ok, buy i woul recommend holding out for an actual milspec 14.

The thing I like best about the 14 is that I can still get a good cheek weld on my stock when I use them, impossible to get cheek weld with the 7s.

They have some great selections of night vision, hope you have a healthy bank account. You can easily spend more on a night vision device without the accessories than your rifle and everything else combined.

There is one that I have got the chance to play with that was cooler than the pvs14. I'm not sure but I think it was called a pvs15??? <--- not certain.

All I know is that it had a zoom built into it and it could go white/black hot. A doorgunner had them so I'm not sure if it is something the Army or the Navy use.

I just know it made the 14's look like the 7's

Anyone know the correct name for it , that can help me out?

It was about the same size as a 14 but it had the thermal feature with zoom.

I have a set of 14's and they work great. They can be helmet mounted, rifle mounted either in front of an ACOG or behind an eotech or just handheld for hunting/camping. As stated already, they are quite expensive.

Hump0311, if I'm thinking of what you are describing, the device that door gunner had was something like ATN's OTIS-14. It's basically an HSLD thermal device the same size as the PVS-14's and costs between $7-10K . The PVS-15's are dual monoculars paired together to make goggles. Never used them but they're supposed to give you depth perception.

Stick with the 14's, they are way more versatile as long as you got the right mounts.

We have about 10 in my platoon. I forget their name, we just call them thermals. We use them to scan for heat signatures while dismounted. I don't like them. I use a PVS14. It's pretty nice.

Ahhh the 13's. I remember running around doing night ops training with one of those on top of my rifle.

14's are fine for personal use. There is an unlimited number of dollars you can spend on night vision equipment. How good do you really need?

Nah it was not the pas-13.

It was little like a pvs14.

But it could go thermal like a pas-13.

My Google is not strong enough.

Hmmm haven't heard of n e thing smaller than the pas 13 for thermals. But I'd love to see them!! I didn't mess with thermals much only the pas 13
