    PTS/ ERB

3000 US NAVY get the Axe.
Not only are they denying enlistment through PTS, but they are now looking at records and Willy nilly just kicking people out.
I know that they reduced force during the Clinton era and that is what we have to expect with DEMOCRATS in the White House, but back then they offered early outs were actually nice about it in comparison.

I'm not surprised, unfortunately. People that had zero say in the numbers game that got us in this mess are the ones that are going to pay for the mistakes, and those that made the mistakes are keeping their jobs.

That sounds similar to what is happening in the Army right now. There are many MOS's that are over-strength. The people in those MOS's that are trying to re-enlist have to reclass if they want to stay in. Mine is one of them right now. There are also very few MOS's open so the people that have to reclass don't have many choices.

One thing coming out of this is the fact that they are making it easier to cross rate into an undermanned rating then ever before. And the methods they are going to be using is not just randomly picking people.

The people that need to worry the most are the ones that won't meet eligibility to cross rate, have something negative in their record such as NJP or PFA failures, or if it gets really tight, low eval scores.

The ERB is being used on top of PTS because not everyone that is eligible for ERB is currently under PTS review, so it's a method of using the same criteria as PTS but over a large group of people to more quickly downsize the overmanned ratings.

It sucks, and I've got a lot of people that work for me stressing out over it, but it is what it is. If you have any questions or concerns, make sure you talk to your Career Counselor, Chief, or CMC about it.

                Quotas are here:

All I can say is if they're saying my rate is overmanned, how come some ships have gapped billets and they're continually pulling people for IAs??? SMFH...

the problem with the cross rating breadcrumbs they threw out there is this: most of those rates require a TS. Most people in the overmanned rates dont have a TS, and wont be able to get one before the conversion deadline. That means that essentially, all of those rates are off limits to most of the people affected by this. They arent waiving all the cross rate requirements, you still have to meet the minimum requirements for the rate.

So my wife has been to Afghanistan and just came home from Iraq, she has been in 7 years and her time is up at 8. She is out of the ERB but has to run the gauntlet for PTS, and I'm scared the career she devoted her life for will not be there for her. She has been always above and beyond and tries incredibly hard, in everything she does. Scared she won't make the cut just on numbers and they will not even look at her record, and accomplishments.

It is a program in the Navy to down size. PTS gets you at your EAOS and. tells you if you are allowed to re-up or not. ERB looks through peoples record and weeds out who is deemed undesirable, and forced out.
