    Boxing in the Army

Does anyone here box in the Army? What are the outlets and how does one make the Army team. I am currently in ROTC, so would being an officer later on change anything? I've been boxing for quite a while and I am pretty good, and I would like to step up to the next level within the Army.

The All Army Boxing Team trains for the Olympics and other world games. Its tough to get in, you have to have been ranked in golden gloves or something or make it in the tryouts, they hold them every year or so. Google Army Boxing and Im sure you can get contact information for them. Ive got a few buddies that have played sports and boxed for the Army, one fella spent twelve years in the Army, all on the boxing team.

I believe each post has a boxing team. There are tryouts at the gym and the coaches will put you in the correct classes and you get your chance. If you standout, you're going further to represent your post in regionals, Commands and further on if you're good enough to be All-Army.

My friend, who had some of the quickest hands I've seen, tried out and his height-to-weight ratio wasn't good. He had to lose weight for his class which messed him up and he lost his bout. It was a dream fulfilled and I cheered him on. I bought him a consolation beer later on.
