Well, last unit I qualled the only soldier that scored 40 out of 40 was the medic...this was out of the ENTIRE unit. M4 with M68 CCO.

      LOL!

I'll be a medic in a few months! haha. I'm sure it depends on your unit, and CO, but are optics open? Could you bring something you personally own?

We were replacing CompMs and ACOGs with EOtechs and ELCANs in like 2008.

Not in the Army bro, no ideas about other branches. You qualify with the rifle and optic they issue you. The only exceptions are you CAN remove the M68 and go irons if you want.

This means you need to use the BUIS, which isn't half bad but the optic is easier IMHO.

At the end of the day an Army qual is 25 yards with a 300 meter target so no big whoop.

That is good that you shot 40-40. I have never shot 40-40. 38 is my best. The reason why i would say giving a medic a medic and ACOG is because their primary goal is not to engage the enemy. So our medics rolled with 68's so our riflemen could have a magnified optic.

I like the ElCANs but we didn't get that many of them so we used most on our SAW's.

I did not personally shoot 40.....it was the medic in the unit that I qualled. We ran the range for them that day and did the qual.
