Since you have a bachelors, apply for a commissioning program. I didn't.. Went enlisted with a bachelors and don't regret it but the extra $1000 or so per month will easily make you wish you made a different choice. Well, at least now I have tuition assistance for my MS/MBA with nothing owed (you'll owe additional time in service if you use TA as an officer). I'm just speaking from experience

All the services are packed and the current administration sucks all around. they are kicking people out left and right for HYT every rate is overmanned. people with 96% are being forced out of flight school into other officer slots or they get to leave with no strings attached. do yourself a favor, if you just want to do because of the job market dont bother. I made board for aviator and said FTN and I'm taking my chances out here. but you have benefit of not knowing how cool the navy actually was 5 years ago. how gay is it? well all these skippers that have been getting canned lately, choir boys compared to my air wing!

Well over the last 5 years didn't every other job out there (besides maybe CEOs of banks) get worse? I agree with dbo and I do hate my job most days but I try to look at the brighter side of things and I'm grateful for free healthcare for me and my family and a steady paycheck the 1st & 15th

officer recruiter won't give you a second glance if you don't have a 3.5 gpa or higher from a reputable college. Once in you can apply to Ocs and chances are better. People think that just cause they have a bach degree they can be an officer but it is dog eat dog to get in.

They're always taking SWOs. Not sure about the GPA but I doubt it.. I'm not going to say why. Hahaha
If you have a license (CPA, CLS, RN, etc) that bears more weight than GPA
"Once in you can apply to Ocs and chances are better." <-- definitely not true. If you heard this from a recruiter I would think twice before believing it

the military doesnt give it takes. sure you get your gi bill from the VA for college but you give the country your youth, your innocence and sometimes your life. the worst is when your back at home and you turn on the news and know who just got wacked. for what its worth the decision to join is a personal decision. I think anyone who needs to ask for others opinions should look for another line of work. I say that as a former second class petty officer who has had to listen to my booters ***** and complain and in other cases thank god they joined up.

The US Navy was the best experience of my life. Find a job you want to do and sign up. You will b+=ch about it when in, but look back on it fondly years later. The leadership training (at all levels from seaman to officer) and maturity you will gain are the real value added to being in the service. You will be 6,000 times the man you were are a result.
