Army non-commissioned officers are referred to as "Sergeant" or "Drill Sergeant" if they have the round brown (with some exceptions you'll learn about later). I think "Sarge" went out of style in the 1950's.

I don't mean to put you on the spot, but I'm trying to save you some grief when you get downrange.

so does this mean your gonna start telling us that the reef sandals from the nex are shower sandals and not authorized for wear on base? lol one chief in japan defined shower sandals as going in between your big toe and index toe lol. later that night i went back to the atsugi food court for some taco hell with my circa 2001 great lakes shower sandals, they were not thong sandals lol. man did I get some **** for that from the cheifs mess. squadron JOPA were all at the baskin robbins and hooked me up for the effort lol.

If you make board, you go over your record with a fine tooth comb, and Master Chiefs convene a board in the summer, where they review the records. They then select a certain number, based on Rating.
Ok so CPO sounds like the equivalent of Sergeant First Class

Congrats, I'll be getting my E-6 officially this cycle (long story, getting paid as one, but have to wait until this cycle for it to be official) I think there's only like 4 13Fs that are promotable in the whole state and 2 slots are in my platoon and I'm at the top of the list.

                  ^^^^

What you're describing is a pretty big problem in the CAARNG right now. Unless more Soldiers are willing to transfer to a high priority MOS, a lot of very good (and deserving) Specialists and Sergeants will not get promoted and may be denied an enlistment extension.

Oh, tons of guys are doing just that, I think as of this month my platoon is up to full strength or pretty damn close to it, but very few of us are actually MOS Qed, like 8 of us and one is ETSing in two months.

But I agree, not enough people are making the move, it was the same way in NY as well, I sat as an E-4 for 3 years an a 11B, got my 5 once I became a MP and sat there for almost 5 years.

Congrats Kermit! What is your MOS? Can't tell, the insigna is too small for my old eyes.

                      How long you been in?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

                            Sai,

He is referring to a youtube video that went viral called "Like a Chief" about USN Chief's.
