I saw this about a week ago and I like the idea of adapting the PT test to something that can be applied to real life.
    WTB:
    1)AR15 Aero Precision Skeletonized Lower
    2)S&W 686 6in barrel ...686 No dash through 686-4
    3) Saltworks M5 upper/lower set

The Marine Corps has had a similar test in place for sometime now in addition to the PFT. It was more challenging than the PFT and more realistic. It was good to go!

I would need to see what the max and minimum standards are before i decided if it is good.

Also how is this gender neutral? Does that mean that male and female soldiers will have the same amount of minimum push ups, 1.5 mile time etc?

If that is the case then i think that this new test is going to set the army up for failure. I have never met a female who could do 42 push ups ( the minimum in my age group) in 2 minutes. Im not saying they cant but i imagine that the minimums are going to drop to accommodate.

It's cross fit. Which is always good for you. It's the army though so I would not plan on it being anything to intense.

The standards are being tested right now for the next 6 months I think it was. And they are supposed to be the same for males and females. To me that seems like a bad idea. Either most females are going to fail or it is going to be to easy to max.

I am sorry, but that just sounds weak. I think we had higher standards in the Navy back in the late 70's/early 80's, and we were the brunt of jokes from the Marines and Army for our pt standards, back then.

Knowing the Army it will be a logistical nightmare to set up. Units will have to prep for days to get a pt test ready. it wont be a simple as do some pushups, situps and a 2 mile run. Full ammo cans and obstacle courses? where are they gonna store all that stuff? seems like a pain to figure out

I am kind of excited to see what the standards are. When it has come to the APFT I have always scored 90 - 100 in the push ups and sit ups, but I am a horrible long distance runner and the highest I have ever gotten on a run was 70, so maybe that 1/2 mile shorter run will help me out.

As far as the gender neutrality, that will be interesting. I have seen some females that can do 50 in two minutes, but most males I know pump out 50 in the first minute.

rowers are like a sit up except u start off with your arms extended over your head and your legs straight and as you go up to do a sit up you also move up your legs from extended to planted like a normal sit up... on the way down extend your arms and legs.
