As it stands I was contracted to submit my OCS package for the Marine Corps however the regional CO wouldn't write off on the waivers I needed. I've been given the phone numbers to the Orange and LA offices seeing as how they have different CO's and that they may look at things differently. I have left voice messages for the Orange office and they have yet to return them and I'm looking to start calling the LA office. I initially took my ASTB with the Navy and when I eventually got in touch with the recruiter he seemed less than happy to talk to me; this is what turned me to the Marine Corps given the fact they told me to come in and interview upon initially contacting them. So now I turn to you, Calguns, in hopes somehow turing this situation around. Im not trying to join for the steady paycheck as many are, I've always considered the military as my first career choice. My grandfather and father were both Naval Aviators and my goal is to wear the same set of wings they did. Although I would prefer the naval services I'm open to all options at his point with my first priority to serve my country. As it stands, I just turned 26 a week ago and graduated in Sept '08. Thank you in advance.

"Navel Aviators" huh?
Give us more details on whats going on. "Hey i submitted my packet and my recruiter isnt too happy to talk to me" is a bit vague. For starters , other than the ASVAB what have you completed ? What waivers do you need ? Have you tried talking to the CO yourself ? I dont know how it is with the Marines but when I talked to the army CO they were more than happy to work with me , however I didnt require any waiversWTB:
1)AR15 Aero Precision Skeletonized Lower
2)S&W 686 6in barrel ...686 No dash through 686-4
3) Saltworks M5 upper/lower set

did you mean recruiting station CO or regional CG? if you're in SD, then OC and LA still falls under the same Regional CG. you'd actually have to go to the East Region. what kind of waivers are we talking about? I'm assuming that since you need a General to sign off on your waiver, then it's a big deal, so you don't have to share it with us.
With the cutbacks and draw down, recruiters, both enlisted and officer, can afford to be picky. The Marines are forcing Lt's out of active duty if they don't get selected for Captain. if you have serious waiver issues, they are not obligated to entertain you.
You can PM me with the details if you want. I'm a former OSO, covering LA.Last edited by dogg007; 02-20-2011, 3:44 AM.Comment

Sorry if things were a bit vague. I essentially completed my entire package and signed my contract and was just needing the waivers before going up for selection. I was told by the Captain at the local OSO (San Diego) that the regional CO is the one who would either sign off on those or not. Upon informing me that I wasn't granted the waivers, it was the Captain who suggested going through one of the other offices. I was told that the Riverside office fell under the same CO but the Orange and LA offices were different. I was given my entire package and the numbers to those two offices.
I don't want to post what I need the waivers for since this site is open to the entire net however I'll send pm's to those who asked. Thank you.Last edited by Atmosphere; 02-20-2011, 4:35 PM.Comment
