Perform to serve or prepare to seperate.
NAVY
Was told that 3 different units close to us lost their Sailors of the year to PTS.
Was told any incidents and you are out maybe not immediately, but when you ask to re-enlist. I am past 18 years and don't have to worry, but seeing many good people lost just due to numbers. I realize it is a sign of the times with no jobs and not many choices after graduation, but this cut throat mentality, has everyone walking a fine line.
Some of us have seen this before in the Clinton years, but here it is again.

yeah, PTS is a giant joke. I am in the system as of April. We will see how it goes. First Class in 7 years, and an A school instructor, and I am not holding my breath.

- i get excellent awards from JTF and SOCOM-- bu since i didn't take care of my primary job/nec - i get pts'd out
- i have medals and ribbons the kinds given for dead heroes.

- they expected me to keep up with a rating/job I havent done in years ( have been going TAD back and forth with OGA's and Joint Special forces)
-no failed PRT's, no mast or NJP not even a chiefs board.

-when i got out, no one even knew the right regs..they were trying to give me half , then no money at all..I did my own research to get my full sep...they didnt even acknowledge it,,,they say they need to find out on their own..took forever,,got big navy and DOD to fix their lack of current regs...got my sep pay.

- wife is also being seperated( also an E-5 / also supervisor/college/ )
- we both gave our life to the service..both of us being sea duty and this is what we get in return

- make sure you know the regs....most commands will screw you.

Yup they told me that I had to get out. I made third in a year and now im up for second I want to stay but nope not going to happen time for more school I guess

Er...for us non-Navy types (i do like the Navy though, they treat their SNCO's with alot more respect than the Air Force does), could somebody clarify what "PTS" is? Thanks.

PTS is the navy's way of "force shaping" as they like to call it so all the people that "get pick" get to serve and reup for every one else they get kicked out. kinda a brief overview of PTS or Perform to serve or as todd said prepare to separate

they ****ed a bunch of guys in my squadron royal. when we pcs'd from Japan I went to college and they sent my bros IA to Iraq and the stan saying oh hey this will help you advance blah blah. well they all were pts's out this year. they were all told the same thing, that they hadnt demonstrated a desire to excell in their rating... you guys said it. sign of the times. cut the military during two wars.

be a rock star like me and make second 4 months before you ets lol. this was back in 05 at the beginning of pts. they put my advancement date for one day after my ets haha f you master cheif I aint no company man!
