Can I get some input on Army mos 13F

That is it, I would appreciate some thoughts.
I am also considering 11x and 19d. I am mainly interested in how 13f interacts with the other jobs and what kind of role they are playing today.

Its the bomb, you get to use cool gear, you go out with the Infantry and find stuff to blow up, I'm truely enjoying it. With that said, I would recomend going Infantry first, spend a few years there, then reclass to 13F as having the 11B experience will aid you greatly, I spent 6 years as a Light Infantry Scout and it helped me tremendously.

19D is a good choice. I am deployed with a a Cavalry Regiment and I am considering reclassing to 19D. Good bunch of guys. There is a lot of tradition with the CAV.

Dont do either. Do 11B then reclass. 13F ends up running the TOC on deployments. the job is cool on paper but not in real life

                    1. ok 13f , call for fire everyone learns to do that now,
                    2. as for CAS Air Force send airmen with us now to run that part
                    3. 13F runs the toc now pretty much it !
                    4. 13f are not even in the fires unit, there in the CAB's now removed from arty units, there part of the battions HHC S-3's to run planning
                    5. 13f don't even get to do colt teams anymore and that was the best part of the MOS
                    6. 13f has been in the star's mos for the last 15 years now (that should say something about that job), no want it for a reason
                    7. also once in(army) its very hard to get out of that MOS because its so short(tier 5), the Army will never let you change
when you re-up to change you MOS(job) it easier to go down a tier then to go up one and 13F is always tier 5 last of the last

While I was a 35F my unit, which was part of a CAB, recieved two 13F's one was assigned to me to work in our S-2 shop, the other became the SGM's driver. While the 13 series we were supposed to received was an E-7 and O-3, we got an E-2 and E-3. My former soldier went through his entire career never getting to do his real job.

My first two years 83-85, I worked at the Brigade Level at S3 in the TOC, (TACFIRE FTW!), occasionally as an FO. I made E4.

My last two, I was in HQ 2BN/6th FA as an FO and then a FSS. I made E5 in 6 months.

Offered E6 and $18k to re-enlist, PDA. I got out but stayed in the reserves for a few years. BTW, I got $8k on enlistment.

                          just go 11x.

11b gets to do everything 19d and 13f does and more

Ask yourself this, "What am I going to do with this job when I get out of the Army?"

If your answer is, "I'm a lifer." Become 11/13 whatever...

If your answer is, "I'll do my 4 and get out..." Don't choose a job you can't do jack squat with when you get out.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.
