    Overseas time

I'm curious for the guys in the Army/Air Force, how does your branch view overseas duty? I'm currently in the Navy, my rotation is 4 years overseas duty and then 4 years stateside. This is my first term. I wont be re-enlisting in the Navy. Curious about other branches, before I totally cut off the Military.

some people in the airforce will stay stateside their entire career. also some are luckily overseas their entire career too. i've been stationed overseas for 2 long tours, 1 short tour, and deployed twice.

It's always about the needs of your particular branch. Some overseas duties are assigned as a re-enlistment incentive.
For a combat soldier, the difference between success and failure is your ability to adapt to your enemy. The people that we deal with, they don't care about the rules. All they care about is a result. My job is to stop them from completing their objective, at all costs.

Usually when you re-enlist for first time, they usually give you what you want. However, after the first re-enlistment, military will send you where ever they want because statistically they will know you will re-enlist again since you already served 8 years or little more. They will know that you are a military career person and of course, the re-enlistment bonus will decrease also.
