Question(s) about the army and joining

I just recently found out the ARMY has a radiology program available and it has definately caught my interest. Ive always wanted to serve but was more focused on the being a coastie , but then i found out only the army can gaurantee their MOS and since i dont want to sign up and be a mailman(no offense) I have been looking into the army. Ideally i would like to serve and acquire experience in a medical field and leave with a skillset i can use after my service. I tried talking to a recruiter but he said he couldnt help me at that office. Are there any recruiters or fellow CG members who are currently serving in a medical field that I can talk to or shed some light on the 68p/91p MOS for me

There are a couple recruiters on here. Hopefully one of them will help you out. I talked to one of them on the phone for awhile before I joined and he helped convince me to enlist. I am glad I did.

I agree i need to talk to one of them , ive been looking at this forum for months now and all i see is good things about the military folk , makes me feel like its something i want to be a part of .

They do , but getting into them is where its tricky . From what i have gathered on websites is that some of them actually hire outside the military into the program . As far as schools go i cant say , im not enlisted

Would you consider going to college and signing up for ROTC? Have them pay for school, get a commission, what could go wrong?

A recruiter not helping you is full of crap.. Call the closet MEPS around you and ask information about the job you seek and and good recruiter in your area.

I'm sure that only the Army, Navy and (Marine Killers) Air Force have that radiology programs. Not sure if the Marines have it.

When i told the recruiter what i wanted to do he seemed not to know much about the Medical programs and tried to get me into Satellite Communcations . If im in San DIego i believe the nearest MEPS is Kearney . Ill give them a try , if not im gonna have to talk to NiteQwill

I think you need to get in touch with an AMMED (I think that's right) recruiter. They specialize in the med mos fields.

It's a good gig, one of the best in the AMEDD if you want a civilian job equivalent. Be advised though that CA requires another year of school to convert over, I know my friends when I was in had to do that.

You usually deploys and train in hospitals or decent accommodations. The thing about being an X-ray tech is that everywhere you go (down range included) there will be air conditioning. Everyone else will be sweating their balls off but damn not the X-ray techs.

But if you want the job that no one knows exist, that the Army will train you for and the civilian market gets a major hard on for, you have to get one that sounds boring. Tack on basic training and you will be gone for more than a year. It is one of the most technically challenging and difficult course in the Army enlisted corps.

I know a few guy and they all scored jobs making deep into the 6 figures range the day they finished AIT. I kept in touch with a few of them and those guy are all well into the 6 figures range now. Finishing the school and taking another 24 credits will also net you an A.A. in Science.

The secret letters you need a SUPER HIGH ASVAB (especially EL of 110+) and a recruiter that is willing:

Actually i already taken some steps in regards to getting into radiology through local community colleges ( and some shadow days at hospitals) and an one math class away from getting on the programs waitlist . So i thought i could serve and learn and whatever i dont finish the GI Bill can help me out with . Its def a great field , my aunt does it and shes the one that introduced me to it and explained the benefits of. The question is what necessary steps do i need to take to get there if i qualify , if i dont there is always Cav Scout

Be a man and join the Marine Corps. Sorry couldn't help my self. Not offense to you OP but I can never understand why people join to do jobs like an x ray tech. I thought most of those were contracted out to civilians. I can understand beig a combat medic or corpsman. Eh to each his own. Just my .02
