You can purchase firearms with an out of state license, you'll need to show them a copy of your orders saying you are stationed in that state or a copy of your LES.

Your orders should do the trick. I'm not sure of the laws there, but in Colorado being in the military and stationed there makes you a resident. It also allows you to get a CCW easily.

Your mil id and your orders. You don't need an out of state id, you can keep your cal id.

alright so atleast some proof of where I am then at the time being? I am assuming I won't have any time during basic, and maybe some time during AIT to get some plinking done, so I'll get what papers to show I am there?

Do not even think about having a privately owned weapon at Basic Training.

Before purchasing a weapon or bringing a privately owned weapon to your AIT location, check with your chain of command to ensure that you are doing things the right way.

Otherwise, your weapons will have to be placed in an "amnesty box", where you will say goodbye to them forever, or they will get you into a world of trouble.

After your Initial Entry Training is complete, and you get orders for your first "Permanent Party" Duty Station, you can check the regulations for that duty station (some overseas installations have restrictions on Privately Owned Weapons) and then start adding to your collection.

Your recruiter should be able to help you with these questions. That is part of their job.

Yeah wait until you get to your permanent duty station, it will make it much easier in the long run.
