Where are they and what are they? Offensive tattoos such as gang related and racist are a no no. Also there is a movement to clean up the military's image so it's best if your tatts don't show while in your PT uniform.

Neck and hands = not good. Would you be willing to get them removed or are they too expressive for you to part with them?

In most if not all cases....no. Neck and hands is usually a DQ. I have a sleeve and Im in the marine corps, but it was grandfathered in. (I secretely add to it when we switch to greens haha.

                  Ask the local recruiter.

It's possible, but you would need a waiver for your tattoos. My understanding is that the reserve components are becoming more selective with potential recruits, which usually makes getting a waiver more difficult.

It's very possible. We have Active Reservists (AGR) guys who are getting tattoos on their necks because it was authorized for a little while. I know that are numbers are a lot better than they were a year ago so they may have rescinded the newest policy, but there was an ALACRACT message last year that authorized tattoos on the neck and hands. Kid in the unit that replaced mine in Iraq had a tattoo of a rope around his whole neck, active duty too...
