They don't fly at all on MARPAT cammies. Nor do we wear bright-colored flags on the front of our flaks. Not to mention, I never knew any units that would allow you to paint a weapon or put an aftermarket stock on (not saying there aren't any, just that I never saw it in country.) Most likely an Airsofter or maybe a PMC. Yeah, Force Recon and MARSOC roll a little different, but I still tend to doubt it. I'm not the end-all expert.Last edited by reidnez; 05-14-2010, 1:45 PM.Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it. -Andre GideComment

You are behind the times. I retired from 1stRecon Bn in 2006 and wore IR-reflective flags on my MARPAT uniform. We also painted our weapons, as does MARSOC, Force, STA platoons and RRT. I have also, in the past, been required to put a bright-colored flag onto my shoulder while in a joint environment. Wasn't too happy about that one.Comment

Yeah, I get all that. But would you've knowingly put the wrong flag on your left shoulder? You are behind the times. Airsofter, me thinks.Comment

I would not. But EVERY DAY I had to correct Marines that did just that. They didn't know any better. Flags on uniforms is still a relatively new thing for Marines and even many senior SNCO's are ignorant of the proper way to wear them.
There is equipment in that photo that cannot be from an airsofter.Comment

I got that picture off usmc.mil.

Yeah, the dude has high value luminex and gps or heartrate monitor on his wrists, not to mention tournequettes on his rig. and those mags are aluminum. Now that SF dude with the great camo rifle and bdus, well he just looks silly. He has a big bright tan helmet with no break up pattern. +1 for the cool paint job, -2 for the big target on your head. (doesn't help when your face is darker then the helmet as well.)
Oh BTW anybody in a scout platoon can paint their weapons, but if you get a dick supply guy. He might make you remove all of it before he lets you turn it in.Last edited by Tintreach; 05-17-2010, 6:11 PM.All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise, not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from the downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation. ~John AdamsComment

4th LAR, '02 to '08 as a reserve, spent a couple of months with I&I on TAD. Those 1st Force guys used our wash-racks for their vehicles every now and then. Good area, quiet and awesome weather although it sucked having to drive an eternity to get to mainside. Were you with 1st ANGLICO? (Right next to 1st Force) if so, when? I was with them for several years.

I'm going to guess that its a picture of a model, as in replica, not some dude playing dress up. Everything looks just too clean and perfect. I don't know, the pic just looks too nice to have been taken in the box. That and I think he doesn't have enough magazines on him.
