Going up for Marine of the Quarter for the 31st MEU. Been a while since my last board, would appreciate any random miscellaneous knowledge that might give me the edge, aside from "Bearing, bearing, bearing."

Everything you can cram in your brain housing group, especially about your MOS.
I know they alway liked asking the usuals, weapon ranges/capabilities, SMEAC,SALUTE,BAMCIS and all of those.
Hit up some of the NCO's in you unit, there has to be at least one that has a "smack" knowledge study guide tucked away somewhere!Comment

Besides all the usual stuff posted above you might want to brush up on your map reading skills.
At my E-5 promotion board they had a large topo map and I was tasked with describing what was at a particular grid coordinate.
Oh yeah, might want to find out how many trucks are on base.
Good luck bro.Last edited by MrTenX; 04-20-2010, 8:07 AM.What my computer can't handle, my rifle does nicely.

How many holes are on a MRE cracker.
Weaps,NBC knowlege.Basically everything in Your #1 and #3 BST.hit up your moto NCO who might have some knowlege flash cards or something.
While I was in I had about 300+ 3x5 index cards with knowlege on them.I left them to the Platoon Sgt who came after Me to pass down

Went up for Marine of the Quarter for HMM-265. 2-2 split, Sergeant Major threw the swing vote in my favor. Went up to Camp Hansen today and competed for Marine of the Quarter for the 31st MEU. Answered every question correctly except for 1 "I do not know at this time," was unanimously chosen to win. Receiving a meritorious mast, certificate of commendation, and being meritoriously promoted to Corporal on June 2nd.
Definitely appreciate the help, both command presence and the sort of basic BST knowledge proved vital. Being the only Marine to slam the door and told by Sergeant Major, "You're dismissed, and please try not to break my hatch on the way out," also tipped things in my favor.Last edited by The Soup Nazi; 04-22-2010, 12:37 AM.Comment

Congrats Marine.
Now pass this experience and knowlege onto Your young Marines and the cycle will continue. It's always good to be promoted on the 2nd.
