Mom defends soldier accused of having child porn

GALESBURG -- An Illinois National Guard soldier in Afghanistan has been charged by the U.S. Army with possessing child pornography over pictures of a young relative his mother says she sent him.

Terri Miller of Galesburg says she sent her son, Specialist Billy Miller, pictures of the little girl to help him get over his homesickness.
The pictures show the child in a swimsuit playing a wading pool and sitting on a truck. In one, the girl is wearing a swim suit and part of her buttocks are exposed.

The Army says Miller will stay in Afghanistan until his court martial. His unit came home last August. Miller faces jail time, if convicted.

Terri Miller says the pictures are innocent.


WQAD TV reports that the child is a relative Billy treated as his own child when the girl was diagnosed with cancer as her father was going through boot camp. The family notes that the same pictures are on family computers and on Facebook pages, and no one else has been investigated.

"You have no clue how it eats me up", said a crying Terri Miller. "I blame myself every day, every day, if I wouldn't have sent the pictures he would be home."

A lesson to any of you who havent been accused or investigated. CID and MPs are NOT your friends. Do NOT believe a word that comes out of their mouth. They will even outright LIE to you or your friends painting you as a monster and all you are is a notch on thier belt. You DO have rights despite what they tell you and despite how they will twist words trying to get you to sign something and you DO have the right to council. If they tell you, "hey, its midnight and friday night. you can talk to us now or wait here till sometime monday when we call for a lawyer in a another country, you politely ask them what time they will deliever chow to you over the weekend and where you will sleep. Every single stero-typical "bad cop" you see in movies comes out and just know that even though you feel like you are very effing alone, people back home are backing you up.
Keep your nose clean and your buddies close but remember some of them could be your friends just to use you later.

Wow, that is scary. I don't know much about military trails but I hope justice prevails and no one is wrongfully imprisoned.

As a former Cid agent (Marine), I would respectfully advise him to admit nothing and deny everything. I would also add that you should never believe what you read in the news or see on tv. It is never even remotely close to reality. If the command is pursuing the issue, there is much more involved. I hope for the kids sake that the command drops the issue but knowing the Army, they have the bottomless supply of bodies to burn. Too corporate for an effective fighting force.

Lol that is so hilarious. I work at an OBGYN/Fertility office and we have a giant wall with all the babies we delivered and created(Invitro-Fertilization)......half of them are naked, ARREST ME! Some of the things they'll punish you for, almost makes me think twice about joining. I'm always worried some female soldier will be pissed I'm not paying attention to her and yell Rape, or some Officer will order me to do something illegal and I'll be damned if I don't do it and damned if I do.

You may give your all for your country, home and military, but should comrade Stalin's KGB squad smell blood, make no mistake. They will use limitless government funds to frame, defame and set you up so they are promoted.

What is one more in the gulag to them? There are plenty enlisting everyday because of unemployment.

I have seen people accused of worse on less evidence.
And when one considers the average soldier spends $30-90K in defense fees out of personal income, and the government gets to walk away and say "oops, sorry we framed you" you may consider a different employer.

I think a visit to militarycorruption.com is in order for new enlistees to get a reality on how ruthless and backstabbing the military is for the sake of promotion and self glorification.

The individual had child porn (not the picture of his relative) on his computer as well as regular adult porn. (a different issue all together) CID has already released info that the pictures of the relative are not the issue. And the defense that the individual is currently using is that many people had access to his computer and someone else may have added it to his computer. Deployed soldiers do share the porn that they may have. Even though it is illegal to have.

You are correct. Even though I am a MP, I advise anyone that has any encounter with local, state, federal or any other kind of LEA to not give up any information and never cooperate with investigations against yourself or anyone you care about. There are very few cases when you should cooperate.
