60+ college credits will get you E-3 when you enter the army. EMT cert will get you nothing to my knowledge but it will give you valuable knowledge. It is pretty easy to get airborne in your contract and if you don't get it in your contract you can almost always get it while you are in AIT. I would join the army. I have been told that the Marines do not take care of your family and the benefits aren't as good. I wouldn't go MP, everyone hates MP's.

I want to re-class to combat engineer, I am just finishing up my AIT right now for communications.

I joined the army recently, so if you have any questions, let me know.

If you're interested in the Hoorah mentality and history of the Marine Corps, do it. Also, employers [usually] love Marines.

If you're interested in getting Airborne (LOTS who don't need it in the Army get it these days) go for the Army.

The only perk for having your AA would be an auto promotion to E-2 upon completion of boot camp. The perk for having EMT would be that you'll know alot more than your buddies going through your training (and possibly combat buddies too) with you.

If you want to be a cop down the road, some departments require you to have some sort of degree or the desire to continue and finish school. If I were you I would do that first since you already got that ball rolling. Then try and find an MOS or branch of service with some kickers that will pay your school loans. In ten years you could have an awesome job with no school loans, which not many people can say.

Yeah I have a couple buddies that are cops and my buddies dad is chief of police down here. I figured I could join and make a career out of it and if not when I get out I can continue to pursue a career in LE. I'm close to my AA and a EMT license is nice especially in LE.

When I discharged I looked into Fresno PD since my wife worked for the department. Being former Army was a huge advantage, but they still stressed that they wanted me to finish my degree. Smaller departments most likely have different requirements.

E-2 in the Corps is Private First Class. Donno What E-2 in the Army is.

If you want to be a cop down the road, I would go MP. If you think you might make a career in the Army I would choose a more interesting MOS. Check out 19D.

Aren't the benefits the same in all the services? When I was in they were.

Depends. If you get qual'd on a language, go air assault, go airborne, etc. etc., you get a little more pay than a desk jockey.

I figure with my EMT license and my Associates degree if I don't like it when I get out I will have experience and still a AA atleast and a EMT license to fall back on wich is desirable by many departments. I was looking into 19D cav scout as well. I want to go airborne and it would be cool to be a MOS that could become a sniper "thats not my goal but I sure as heck wouldn't turn it down" . My buddy "recruiter in Yuba City now" Is a MP OIF/OEF veteran served with a ranger unit in bahgdad guarding a palace or something fancy, He said if he could do it all over again he would just go 11B because they did the same things kicking down doors getting HVT's and all.
