im so mad at the army!!

this is mainly just a rant but i really wish i can find a way to do something. i dont have all the details but this is what i do know. i know this guy who joined the army maybe a year and a half ago, two at the most. he kept in touch with a buddy of mine. he told my buddy he hates the army, they dont train much and they rarely go to the range. and he's scheduled to ship to afghanistan or iraq i dont remember which. so he goes awol and comes back home. while he's home he goes to a party and does coke, speed and drinks. well he od's and throws up, and i guess it goes into his lungs and ends up in the hospital. he survives much to my displeasure. he obviously goes back to the army after he's better, and what do they do? they medically discharge him and give him his full benefits. it really pisses me off. a few of my buddies did their time in war and are having to fight to get benefits while this piece of @@@@ gets everything for doing drugs and going awol. i really want to "f" this guy over and make him lose his benefits and get a bcd. any thoughts

My thoughts are that you have third hand information about a situation that is no doubt more complicated than what you are laying out.

The military does not give medical discharges for drug use. I am betting there is a lot more to the story than you are telling, possibly because you or the person relaying the story to you do not know all the details.

I doubt there is anything you can do to mess with the guy if all the army did was give him a medical discharge.

Yeah I figured as much it was just more of a rant but I don't care what happened to him it's the fact of the AWOL and drug use and the army still gives him a discharge with full benefits. What happened to zero tolerance. I feel bad for all those army guys who got kicked out for going to see a doctor about possible PTSD. It just that I've heard the same story from more than one source now and some of them are really close to the guy. I mean at least if he went to battle than I could probably understand why he did those things.

You also have to remember, 1 persons "AWOL", might be another persons "Admin lost my leave chit".

Talked to the guy today acted like I cared and found out everything I posted was true he said the army just wanted to kick him out but he got a lawyer who said due to his near death and lung injuries from his od. It was the armies fault he went AWOL. Since he felt unprepared to go to war. The army didn't want to deal with it so they medically discharged him and now he gets all his benefits even his gi bill.
