they ask alot of the same questions in different ways. they tried to get me to admit i smoked pot. they would say "so you and your friend were smoking pot........." i'd say no. than theyd ask other questions about stuff than say "this was before or after you started smoking pot?" you have to watch out and actually listen to what they're saying.

For a secret level: Fill out a form what is 956? Wait 10 months. Done.

I listed all my driving convictions to the date. Dates I attended college and grades... Reason for derogatory on my credit.

Helps if you have family already with clearances even though I didn't list them.

This is how mine was also, I never sat down with any investigator.

Getting a secret clearance isn't a huge deal, you fill out your SF92 form, and wait for the backlog to clear.

Now going for your TS/SCI or anything higher...then it starts to get more complicated.

pretty much. You will probably end up filling out the SF-86 then end up re inputting your data into a computer program called EPSQ.

YMMV. I filled out my SF-86 7 or 8 times before they finally did the investigation.

The form is the SF86, be prepared to provide references for any place you have lived and also make sure you are able to be in contact with a family member so they can assist you in gathering all the needed info. It may take a week or two just to fill out your paperwork then expect a wait of several months for your clearence to kick in pretty much exactly what Kermit315 said. If you need the clearence right away your unit will probably give interim clearence while your waiting on your investigation especially if they want to send you to a school right away. Secret is really no big deal though it's the higher levels that are a real pain in the ***.

filling out a SF86 and and not lying on it. have all the jobs you worked at in the last 7 to 10 years. i think secret is 7 yrs and TS is 10 yrs. not sure on the TS. pretty much everyone has a secret clearence today due to all the deployments and things in theater going on.

Who has gotten a secret clearence in the last five years and what did it consist of. Do you have to do a sit down interview with a shrink, do they do interviews with your references, do you have to take a polygrapgh, is your credit checked? Wanted to see how in depth it was.

Your security manager should contact you via NIPR if active duty military.

All that is needed by member is to complete EQIP and finger prints.

They do all the rest.

All I did was fill out the form, re-type everything I wrote into a computer, get my prints done, and wait/drink for about 8 months. For some folks it's taken longer.

Cool thanks for all the help looks like a got to go figure out all the places I moved in the last couple of years which is 6 different places.
