Even though I was a 6172, I hung around the 53 guys. I still talk with a few of them each month or so and know a Gunny who is still working on them.
The 46 guys were always one squadron so after a few years of the same guys it got old. We had to chop to the MEU every year so it was pretty boring, the 53 guys were split up so they didnt have to hit the boat for 7 months every 1.5 years.
Nothing like shooting the 50BMG at 140 miles an hour.
