A Marine needs your help.
There is a Fund-raiser, on Saturday, for a U.S. Marine Corps, Viet Nam Veteran, named Jim New. Jim served 13 months with the 3rd Marine Division 1968/69 in Viet Nam and has been a Rescue resident for 20 years. Jim has been diagnosed with a blood cancer known as Multiple Myeloma - A direct result of exposure to Agent Orange.
The VA is paying for Jim's stem cell transplant/ treatment, which will last several months, however Jim and his wife, Charlene, will need to relocate temporarily to Washington State at their own expense.
The fund-raiser benefit will be a BBQ dinner, dance and silent auction held at the Wing Ranch, 7676 Comet View Court in Rescue on Saturday from 5 to 11. Tickets are being sold for a $20 minimum donation.
