My son to become an NCO

So, my son is 35F in the Army, Military Intelligence. I know, I know...

He made the cut off for E-5 about 2 months ago, finished PLC 2 weeks ago(PLDC for us older vets) and today was notified that his effective promotion date will be 4/1/20.

I was supposed to fly out to Ft. Riley and attend the promotion ceremony, we had word that he was probably going to get pinned on either 3/31 or 4/1. Well, unfortunately, with the SIP, that's not going to happen.

Still over the moon happy for his azz. He was trying to beat my TIS to make E-5 of 3.5 years and missed the mark by about 6 months. I said now he can try to beat me for E-6.

Something else kinda cool about him getting pinned on 4/1 is that was the day I was pinned with my stripes 26 years ago.

    Thanks for reading.

That's cool, congratulations. You must be very proud.

(For a second there I was afraid your son was a 35 year old female.)

          It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

Nice. Thank him for his service for us. I remember my E-5 date. Was still a bit hungover when my brother pinned them on. Was nice to have family there, sucks that this virus won't let you be there. Hope you can make it for E-6.

              HAHA.............

Does he know that the stripe on the dress blue uniform is $80 to have it sewn on, or just $90 for a pair with them already.

As Intel, he's going to pass you for SSG in no time.
