Just got a flag waiver approved for my relief to PCS.

It helped that the first stop movement order happened literally as the moving vans were loading up his stuff.

We are taking it day by day, base commander has said unequivocally that we are not shutting down production.

I was on the end of my last deployment in Afghanistan when they started having Ebola cases popping up here in Texas. I was wanting to just stay where I was lol.

We're in the middle of not knowing wtf is going on over here. My wife has orders to PCS in August. Her replacement got sucked onto the Mercy and it's unknown when they'll arrive to relieve my wife due to the mission and freeze order. We own our home and were prepping to sell soon, but the market bottomed out with the economic collapse and no PCS. My wife came to the dinner table the other night and said, "Well, umm...." and nothing more and no indication of what she was going to say. I replied with, "Yes, for the good of the Navy, I'm fine with extending our time for up to 3 years where we currently are." She was shocked I knew the question before she asked it. Regardless, extending current orders to help alleviate the backlog of PCS is a possibility right now. With that said, she hasn't had her orders changed, but there's the usual rumors floating around. Best to be prepared than to be caught off guard.

With the new guidance on the SecDef Stop movement orders, we are starting to move again. I fully expect the rug to be pulled from under us at at moment.

1SG: We are leaving in 4 weeks.
1SG: Scratch that, grab your $h!t! We are leaving in 3 days!
1SG: As you were. Hurry up and wait!

Well try not to laugh your ball$ off at this. We were given a departure date last week. I knew things were going too well: plenty of time to out process, pack, hit the mailroom, DTS done. All very un-Army. Of course in true Army fashion we just got notice that flight was cancelled. New departure date unknown. Depends on whatever eggplant measuring contest caused the flight cancellation. RIP/TOA is essentially done so I get to hurry up and wait. The Universe is now in balance again. Lol.

Well, finally made it back to Hood. 2 week quarantine is done. All my team has left for home. Happy for them but also a bit sad to be without the folks I've seen daily. The Army is full of goodbyes I've learned.

I off to the WTU soon to get fixed up. Probably going to be a long haul to get back up to full speed with the surgery I'm looking at. If anyone is here at Hood give me a shout. Off to my next adventure.

Ended up doing over 80 haircuts, right up until the day before I left. All free of course. No one complained. I had quite the set up by the end.

Going to Ft Sill towards the end of the year. Hoping covid slows down so I can get out of AIT sooner.

My wife's papers to detach from her current command have been signed. She detaches in August, and we'll head to California in August. She's telling me everything is funded and approved. I hope so. Our house will be listed for sale next week.
