    Rem Oil on a 240b

    Good evening, everyone!

Quick question... What are your thoughts on using Rem Oil as a surface protectant on a M240b that's exposed to brackish water on a daily basis? I work for the DoD as a Harbor Patrol Coxswain and we have 240s mounted on the boats. I'm tired of relying on the armorer to maintain our weapons because sometimes it gets done and sometimes it doesn't and so I'd like to give a good wipe down after each shift to keep the rust off. We use CLP on the inside but for the exterior surface I'd like to use something aerosol based like Rem Oil that i can apply quickly and wipe down. Thoughts on how it might work on a gun that's exposed to brackish water daily? Any better alternatives to recommend?

Breakfree has been shown to be one of the better corrosion preventers, I would use an aerosol can of that with a rag.

You do know they make CLP in an aerosol can also right?

Rem Oil sucks as a rust preventative.

I really like this stuff. It leaves a nice film which doesn't go away easily. I use it on the outer surfaces of my firearms. You can spray it on a rag and wipe it on that way. A little goes a long way.
It does smell pretty gnarly though.

Why isn’t the armorer doing his job and even better yet why isn’t somebody on his *** about him not doing his job?

Used CLP in the coast guard and never had issues

I really don't know, and that's a helluva challenge, but I wonder I RemOil is a bit light for a 240. Maybe read up on how Teflon will interact with salt water too? That's all just a guess though. Probably so long as you spray it down before and after every shift it'll stay decent.
