Yea, I keep searching for new information on him to see where he's at in his situation, but now its all under investigation I don't think anything new is coming out until he's been given the boot.

This brings up a few questions which USMA and Big Army probably don't want to answer.

      USMA:

-First and foremost, where was the "Long Gray Line" over the past four years?
--This guy spent 4 years, plus summer training, with the Cadet Corps, and none of the other cadets got wind of his political stature?
--If they did, they remained silent?
-Second, the adult supervision didn't see anything in his work or class presence?
--Or, did everybody give him a pass as an Afghanistan veteran with Airborne, airsault and CIB credentials?
-Third, "Oh, crap! We just gave a diploma to a commie?"

      Big Army:

-What the heck do we do? He met the standards for graduation and commissioning. But, we can't have an avowed commie leading our troops.
-He just scammed us out of $500k in educational/training costs, but our only contractual resources for recovering those monies are based on failing to complete the Academy and graduating.
-Who the "H" is in charge at the Academy?

      Musing and speculation:

We probably won't hear much more about this. Everybody involved (except the LT) would probably like to drop this into a hole. But, there are still some issues to resolve.

The lawyers have got to be looking at the concept of an illegal contract, based on a USMA Cadet's Oath taken upon entrance to the Academy.
      I. Oath of Allegiance
I, _________, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and bear true allegiance to the National Government; that I will maintain and defend the sovereignty of the United States, paramount to any and all allegiance, sovereignty, or fealty I may owe to any State or Country whatsoever; and that I will at all times obey the legal orders of my superior officers, and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Void the contract based on misrepresentation (if one party lies or deliberately conceals a relevant information, a contract will be considered void due to misrepresentation) due to fraudulent statements at contract inception, bust him to slick sleeve, and assign him to Leavenworth for his 8-year reimbursement tour.

If the Academy can make a case that allegiance to the Nation is foundational to the issuance of the degree (and not just "cooperate and graduate"), -- neither public nor private non-military schools have such an oath requirement -- they may find a way to rescind the diploma.

And then, we will hear a lot more about this.....
