    2008 Battle "E" winners

for E-2/C-2 wing is : VAW-113. Yep, second one in 3 years. Looks like we are going to get the Akers award also, which means the best avionics systems in the Navy, at least as far as E2's are concerned.

My guys did some good work last cruise, this is some of the payback for that.

Can you translate into non-navy terms for us?

      mission accomplishment/cost = Battle Efficiency.

basically, you have to have great sortie completion/rft rates, using as little money as possible to meet this goal. just one component of our radar costs 250,000. so, if we didnt troubleshoot properly, we could waste a lot of taxpayer money throwing parts at a problem until it was fixed.

That award means we had good, reliable systems at the lowest cost. It comes down to good troubleshooting, and lots of PM.

I remember my last ship, USS Antietam CG-54, received the Battle E. A lot of hard work but it gives you a sense of accomplishment to wear the ribbon. Bravo Zulo Kerm

Those awards don't come easy and it's an all hands effort. Congrats to you and your crew.
