    Burn pit claims...

So a post on Facebook, reminded me how often I was exposed to burning trash/feces...etc while in country.

Has anyone started their claims on exposures to burn pits yet?

Remember all the bottle waters we drank and those bottles were baking in the sun. Veterans have developed cancer and died. The CA denies those claim as well

A couple Senators are working on a bill, hopefully they can start working on this and not ignore it like Agent Orange, that stuff destroyed my dad. He gave up on the VA after returning from Nam and didn't put back in for it and get disability til 2000, far too late.
Best to get the paperwork started, I'm kicking myself for not putting in for a few things when I got out, I still gotta do it but sounds like such a Pita. They're saying the malaria meds they gave us were bad too.

Our bipartisan bill, the Help Veterans Exposed to Burn Pits Act, would create a center of excellence at the VA to better understand and begin to address the health needs of veterans who have fallen ill after exposure to burn pits.

If you have a respiratory issue, you can claim that it was caused by the smoke and dust your exposed to. Their some information on the net about the smoke. Just remember that everything was burnt in those pits. Not give up. PM if you wish.

Just remember... you will have to....
              1) did you suffered any injury?
              2) documented while in service?
              3) how is it effecting your life now?

I wanted to file burn pit claim, but so difficult to win as of now. Maybe few years down the road when VA gets more survey and research done.

There is a VA burn pit registry you can sign up for on the VA site. It doesn't get you anything immediately but might help with claims later.

I was awarded 10% after a 13-months application process. Had to do a Spirometry test at the Long Beach VA. I attached this burn pit memo as part of my initial application.

Affirmative. Suggest you create an account in eBenefits in order to monitor your "expeditious" VA claims progress...

eBenefits allows you to add supporting documents. Keep in mind this is DoD/VA, so it's not very intuitive to navigate through.

I lived about 100yards away from one on my deployment , I came back with Asthma and a few other issues. Va doc just looked at me funny and moved on when I told him I lived near one for 7 months. I just gave up in pressing the issue because I wasnt on Bagram , KAF or any of the other major FOBs listed
