    New Marine recruit

Yah, I'm sure there's a lot of that
Oh no, not me, can't cap that word, makes it sound important or something
Army of course needs to be capitalized
    Thanks.

      1st week sucks...
No sleep for like 2 days for sure..
      paper work
      hair cut
      uniform and basic hygiene gears
      medical and dental
      drug test......
and Friday... you get to meet with your DIs.

Lieutenant will come and introduce the DIs to their recruits. It's on!!!!

1st phase is a cake walk compared to the others, other than 4th. Will never miss the long hike uphill Mt MFr. and then when u think your done, your dlck is back in the dirt.

Loved it when they said "Drill instructors carry out the plan of the day" Then all he.. Breaks loose like a Hurricane. It's mostly mental, only part I hated was gas chamber and Mt MFer. I kinda miss it, is that demented?!

Well he did IST at recruiters over the weekend, the recruiter said this Monday is s high chance he will leave, if so expect a call Sunday night or early Monday morning... Sooo early morning went by, so didn't think nothing of it, then the recruiter calls, says "is he ready???"
Anyway, he went to MEPS and will fly to San Diego in the morning to catch up with those that shipped yesterday

Nice, I DEP'd out of Salinas RSS too.

Honestly I have a lot of friends who just got off the drill field. Boot camp is pretty watered down man. your son will be more than fine...hopefully the same will be said for my Corps.

Mother F'er, 1st Sergeant's, Recon Ridge, some great humps for sure. At MOPP level 4 it's a good test for any man. The grunts that run MCT used to haze the **** out of the future MP's in this manner every class that came through.

He'll have fun like summer camp. It's one big party (working party). He'll be fine. It's a kinder gentler Corps thanks to Mothers of America. Shower shoes and all...

I'm guessing camping won't be bad for him, I'm just wondering if he's reconsidered his recent vegan kick

                            Tripper,
Congrats on your son becoming a Marine. While I'm not a Marine I raised one (he's now a Police Officer in CO.)

A good site for recruit families is http://marinefamilynetwork.com/page/recruit-bootcamp. There is a wealth of information on what he'll be going through during the next 13 weeks. You might even find someone from your area that has a son going through at the same time.

I live within earshot of MCRD and if I'm out at the right time of the morning or evening I can here Reveille

                            or Evening Colors
                            .

Always makes me stop, listen and say a prayer that my son made it through Iraq. I try not to think about what he does now.

                              Congrats on your boy too.
