    VA rating before MEB??

I got my VA rating then had a MEB initiated based on the VA rating. I know the MEB determines fitness for duty and the PEB determines percentage. How does getting the VA rating first help or hurt me? I have 17 years in the Guard.

Contact your local VSO office for additional help and information as well. Also, what kind of VA rating they gave you and for what type of medical condition. All those things matter as well. I hate dealing with VA.

If the military gives you any type of disability separation pay, the VA wants it paid back before they will issue monetary benefits for service connected disability. VA compensation is tax free. Remember that. I worked in the Adjudication Dept for the VARO for many years.

VA, no thanks...just win your claim and seek private care. So hard to make appointment with VA.. private clinic will offer more schedules than VA as well.

It comes down to which percentage is higher and which care you want. The Army will give you a rating to disqualify you from service and then the VA will give you a rating to determine your benefits. If you Army rating is high enough you qualify for Tricare (i believe) and the Army benefits (which are taxed) or you can end up with VA care and untaxed benefits

I dont know how guard does it but the Army gave me my rating first then the VA gave me my rating. Getting your VA rating helps you because you dont have to deal with all of the BS paperwork for benefits after you ETS. In terms of hurting you I dont see how it would as that ratings are based on a criteria , so your conditions define what percentage your get although they each use different criteria

I can't go any higher than what I have now. I'm more concerned that the Guard was trying to admin separate me instead of MEB/PEB. I have received no updates in 8 months as to what's going on.

I'd do the admin sep but I want the Tricare for life and the CRSC.
