The 82nd is its own Army/animal. For your career as a young enlisted soldier it is amazing because you will have so much training ,many classes and deployments available to you which will help you excel as a soldier. HOWEVER there is a lot of bs and stupidity you have to deal with due to higher ups , the numbers game and the dog & pony show that goes on over there. Day to day frustrations run high there and once you are at Bragg you are stuck. Life outside of Bragg is pretty non existent as the surrounding area is just a ghetto.

PM me if you have any more questions

I wasn't even aware of the AKO wishlist thing.

Does anyone know how long ago this 'wishlist' was implemented? I feel so stupid for not knowing this.

Most of my osut plt got sent to Lewis McChord, one or two lucky guys got sent to Hawaii, and the unlucky few of us were sent to Fort Knox...

Haha nope. I wasn't a NAP. I held active jump status my whole enlistment.

Maybe if you put in a stint at Thule you can pick the next one.

to the new guy , Thule Air Base ... When you volunteer for crappy locations they tell you that after completing your volunteer assignment that you get to pick your next duty station (not always true but its a good shot) Google Thule Air base and youll get the rest of the joke
