In the DHS document linked in the article, these California counties are listed as 'Terrorism Hot Spots'.

      WTH?

Just taking up space in (what is no longer) the second-worst small town in California.

The top 4 are in the SF Bay area and Los Angeles. I think that I agree with them.

I am just trying to figure out what they are classifying as 'terrorism'. I understand the larger cities are going to have more violent crime, but there are 58 counties in this state. What singles out the counties on that list?

I have lived in Butte County for nearly 30 years and don't recall any incidents remotely resembling 'terrorism'.

That's a really good question. Apparently, Muslims beheading people is just workplace violence. I'm not clear on what the threshold for terrorism is.

It's based on the number of TEA PARTY groups in the county.

The report that has all the terrorist events runs from 1970 to 2008 and includes categories for extreme left an right wing, religious, separatist, and single issue events. Of the CA extreme left and right wing events, 176 are extreme left wing and 16 are extreme right wing.

The left owns domestic terrorism in the USA from 1970 to 2008 on the strength of 339 extreme left terrorist attacks in the '70s and '80s, compared to 63 extreme right terrorist attacks from the whole reporting period of 1970-2008.

The SF bay area accounts for 151 (nearly half) of ALL extreme left terrorist attacks from 1970-2008.

Weird. I don't have time to read the article and reports in great detail, but didn't seen to add up. Examiner article states Obummer/DHS Is going to crack down on right wing extremists due to increases threats. All the figures in the DHS article seem to show markedly decreases number of terrorist attacks since 70's and reports the majority of current threats are LEFT WING groups.

Yes, looking again at the info they state 5 'single issue incidents' in Butte since 2000. That would include things like burning an abortion clinic, synagogue, church, etc.

I guess that falls under the blanket of terrorism.

But not for the same reasons as the DHS considers them hotspots I'm sure.

I wish. We wouldn't have the issues in my county we do if we had that many engaged Americans.
