Egregious assault on the first amendment

Now the group most responsible for denigrating the 2A rights of law abiding citizens is crying foul when their 1A rights get ruffled:

Media outlets cry foul after reporters were detained and say they were fired upon with tear gas while covering protests after fatal shooting of Michael Brown

I guess the shoe doesn't fit too well on the other foot-at least not in Ferguson.

Yep....funny how the press is so gung ho to lobby for the taking away of other peoples' rights but think theirs should be sacred.

If you don't wanna get gassed or shot at......don't stand in the middle of a riot.

I loved the video...helmeted officer with baton runs up to abandoned video camera and gently aims at the ground. Priceless!

The Governor has removed authority from the police chief and his officers and placed the highway patrol in charge of the scene. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/08/14...uson-security/

Maybe the reporters should embed with the police instead of the rioters.

Some one has to keep the police in check (the governor did I guess). They were completely militarized.

This is 100% WHY we need the 2A. Because once the 2A is gone, you've got rocks and bottles to defend yourself when they come to take away your 1A right.

The dominos fall once the 2A does. You CAN speak freely, there IS freedom of the press, you DO have the right to protest, because if they try to take it, you remove them by force of arms. Our constitution provides for this exact scenario.

Luckily the state police/highway patrol in the state are much more of a professional and exemplary law enforcement organization. They showed absolute professionalism, good judgment, and exactly what every police department should strive to do. Thumbs up to them for actually keeping the peace.

Did anyone notice that those "Weapons of War" the Democrats complain about all the time were pulled out by the police? They were armed with ARs. If it's a weapon of war, it cannot be used by a civilian police department against it's citizens...... why the heck isn't everyone up in arms about that? Well because they really aren't weapons of war are they.....

Some have noticed the militarized police force.....

The federal government has already given police forces billions in military equipment, but public advocates say Congress should act

                    Quotes from Holder are laughable.

                      No kiddin'!

Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement, "At a time when we must seek to rebuild trust between law enforcement and the local community, I am deeply concerned that the deployment of military equipment and vehicles sends a conflicting message."
And where exactly they did they get all that stuff Mr. Holder? Oh yea....the Fed Gov't / DHS has been handing it out like to candy to local PDs for several years now!

Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said the 1033 program "serves a purpose."

"This is a useful program that allows for the reuse of military equipment that otherwise would be disposed of that can be used, again, by law enforcement agencies to serve their citizens," he told reporters Thursday. "That said, it is up to law enforcement agencies to speak to how and what they gain through this system."
Yeah those citizens in Ferguson got served alright.

Yes, but at what point is this not frowned upon by everyone who won't take up arms. Trust me, I'm with you on this one, but I'd be hesitant just because of what the repercussions could be.
God may have made men, but Samuel Colt made them equal.

Send me pics of your: Colt Detective Special, AMT Hardballer, pre-64 Winchester Model 70. I'm looking for them.

My understanding is these reporters were at the McD's and NOT BUYING ANYTHING. They were warned and then the manager called the cops.

They weren't rousted because they were press. They were rousted because they were WiFi vampires.

ETA: I'm not taking sides on anything here, just relaying info.

Agreed. Obviously you can't just run out and go all vigilante immediately. You have to let things play out. And as they played out, it has gotten better.

Everyone assumes the 2A is to remove the federal government, but its not, its to remove any government, local, state etc if they refuse to do what they need to do to protect the citizenry from tyranny (among other things such as self defense etc).

Apparently the state of Missouri was/is willing to do what it needed to protect the citizens from the tyranny of a rogue police department and the tyranny of rampaging mobs.
