    Ugghghhhh

Upon review of all the parties’ evidence, the court seriously doubts that the banned assault long guns are commonly possessed for lawful purposes...
So she's saying that millions of people who LEGALLY own these types of guns are not doing so for lawful purposes. So much fail here...

Unusual? I guess she hasn't looked at the sales of ARs and AKs since Obama was elected...

Wow... Is this case going to be appealed and hopefully be the new Heller?

Fed Court upholds MD AW ban - Tardy v. O'Malley

The judge ruled that the ban on assault rifles and large-capacity magazines was not a violation of second-amendment rights. He agreed that a total ban on handguns, for example, would be a violation of the right to bear arms, but that a ban only on certain types of guns was legal.

He added that the only types of arms protected by the second amendment are "weapons that are typically possessed by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes," alleging that assault weapons and those with large-capacity weapons do not fall into that categorization and therefore are not protected by the constitution.

So I guess that the highest selling semi-auto rifle doesn't meet the criteria for "weapons that are typically possessed by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes"?

          -Ruskie
The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed - where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.

Well, in Maryland, he would be correct. A judge hearing the case in Texas wouldn't be able to say that.

corruption at its finest, don't like something make up bull**** to ban it and then find some willing judge to rule the law constitutional. I blame the people of Maryland for putting those in office that passed this sort of law.

If this decision stands, people who live in the state of California are really gonna get hosed. DeLeon is probably calling Steinberg and plotting a ban right now.

Pretty stunning "opinion" and logic (or lack thereof).

                    District court

District court, obviously the judge ignored the 1992 Rodney King riots.

The 2014 and 2016 elections are critical, especially the US Senate.

It is my hope that tge owbersvof so called AW arms step up, while 100 percent participation would be what we should have, if only 10 percent stepped up and got involved, we would go along way to fixing all gun laws.

Iif we do our part, after the 2016 elections, we will get a federal civil rights bill.

particularly self-defense in the home, which is at the core of the Second Amendment right.

That opinion appears to agree with the general feeling here...I've read hundreds of posts advising that rifle bullets used for home defense can penetrate numerous walls and kill neighbors a block away.

Lower level federal court ruling so definitely be appealed to a higher court ASAP.

                          Huh?

Did we get one the last time the GOP had the House, Senate, and the White House?

NO! I would argue that its important for the appointment of future judges though.

But that doesn't speak well for us in California either.
