So Hawaii Is Also Going Shall Issue?

    Love it, love it!

**Dupe policing myself, although I don't know why the other thread is in the California 2A Board when this took place in HI? The heading says, Discuss California 2A related litigation and legal topics here so I guess this ruling is sort of related to Peruta?**

Given that it's the third ruling from the 9th on the same issues, I hope that it means that the justices are pretty confident that they are not going enbanc on Peruta.

Ha-wa-i-i will be forced to comply with the CCA-9 decision, whatever it turns out to be, after the en banc (full court) has decided whether to reverse or not.

Let's hope that the ruling stands because I would love nothing more than to see all the gun hating ****s in CA and HI have to eat shizz and accept that 2A actually means something.

Hawaii is tough. I have a friend on the big island trying to build an AR from an 80% locally. He had to obtain a permit first from the local PD. Yes, you need a permit there before you can buy a rifle and another for a handgun.

Also, no private ammo shipments allowed. Also, no public shooting ranges on the entire island. You either need to find a private club or a friend with a large private ranch to shoot on. No shooting in the forest either, we have it real good here in comparison.

Other than the permit to purchase and ammo shipments, its really not much different than here. A range open to the public is still a privately run operation, and in general, we can't target shoot in the NFs. No shooting ranges in OC and few good ones in SD. Ranges are getting closed and not replaced. I have a 1.5 to hour drive to shoot rifles, a 45 minute drive for shotguns and only crappy indoor ranges for pistols. When I was a kid, full-service gun clubs were in easy reach and trap and skeet facilities were even more common, along with outdoor pistol ranges in town - all in OC

Thats because you chose to live where you live. In NorCal many places to shoot legally are within minutes including out your back door.

If it is the national implications of Peruta, or any other California law, the thread should go here.

                      HI is pretty backwards.

                      Check this out.

"Honolulu police have urged lawmakers to preserve an exemption in Hawaii law that lets undercover officers have sex with prostitutes during investigations."

HONOLULU (AP) — Honolulu police have urged lawmakers to preserve an exemption in Hawaii law that lets undercover officers have sex with prostitutes during investigations. But they won’t say how often — or even if — they use the provision.

Sure wouldn't want any sex workers legally armed, so the cops won't get hurt doing "undercover" work.

I wonder it this law still applies when the sex workers are under age?

                        Hmmm.

                        Wonder what spouses would think.
Does this also apply for same sex under cover work?

I wonder if they also can sample illegal drugs too while on the job?

I'm sure that's the case on some islands in Hawaii as well.

It sounds similar to NJ, although we can buy ammo out of state or online and we have public ranges.

But we have the same purchase permit system. And we can't build from 80% lowers without a mfg license.

You can shoot in the National Forests here, exceptions are drought or 'urban' forests like Angeles, Cleveland, etc. In Hawaii those are state forests, not National. No shooting allowed. The Big Island is a place with vast areas of open spaces, like California. It is not a place where the 2nd admendment can be exercized.

Unlike California, no BLM land, no private ranges built and no where else to shoot. There are private ranges on Oahu. You end up buddy-ing up with some of the larger land owners for permission on the Big Island. Or, you move.
