The focus of these environmental groups should be on coming up with an ECONOMICAL non-lead bullet design that has similar effectiveness to lead. If they can pump out non-lead bullets for a lower price than lead ones, that are just as good, then you don't even need these silly ban laws. The market itself will move away from lead on its own.

California is the first state to ban lead ammo; it will phase it out by 2019.

I never heard this. I thought this was just about hunting w/ lead ammo. Now they are going to phase out ALL lead ammo in the next 5 years?

The lead rule only applies to hunting, not target shooting.

Why not just follow AZ's lead? Voluntary program, 85-90% compliance with it. Non lead ammo or pack out the gut sack.

85-90% compliance out of a voluntary program. Same with Utah.

If you use non-lead ammo OR carry out the gut sack, they put you in a raffle to win an ATV or something like that.

But hey, why encourage behavior you want, when you can simply make a criminal offense out of it!

pretty sure it would be a second amendment issue if it was not only a hunting regulation

i think that is missing lead ammunition is not banned its only illegal to use it while lawfully hunting
