How's this: VA wants to take veteran's guns despite Congress

So...I was on the phone with a fellow veteran and he told me about this little thing. Apparently, if the Veteran's Second Amendment Restoration Act is passed, the VA will defy it. That is to say, that if Congress makes it illegal to forward information to the ATF regarding a veteran who requires assistance with their affairs, that the VA will actually defy that and report the veteran anyway. This VA rep just declared that he would violate the law (if passed) and report veteran's anyway.

Our own people are about to do us dirty.

It's the reason I refused to claim anything that could have a cerebral connection. Even hypersomnia (excessive daytime sleepiness) is considered cerebral and not physical. Not going to claim it unless forced to.

          ^^^^^^^^^^

I don't remember the exact time period.
IIRC the was a hearing in Congress about firearms and Veterans, and the reason one Congress Critter said to take them away, is because Vets are trained in the use of firearms. IOW, they had to disarm Vets because armed Vets could resist their acts of Tyranny.

What gets me is that the guy that's assisting me at the VA Regional center says he doesn't believe that could ever happen; the director and several of the senior folks at the DVA are gun owners and have mental health ratings. I think I'm going to send him this link and ask if his opinion would change if he knew one of the biggies at the VA is threatening to go against his own folks.

And they would be right...at least right enough about standing against tyranny.

Actually, there is a well-known instance of this very thing happening. Look up "The Battle of Athens, TN" for when this happened shortly after WWII. No less than Eleanor Roosevelt supported these veterans in what they had done, given the reasons why they did it.

Not saying I'm for rebellions, but that last resort needs to be there to keep our politicians from oppressing us. No less than Frederick Douglass even said so.

To be a true Liberal, you must be 100% pro-Second Amendment. Anything less is inconsistent with liberalism.

if you are asked if you own a firearm just say no. its none of their business. why give up your personal information on such a petty question. The VA doesn't need to know your hobbies or personal business period. To many Veterans have big mouths. Shut the hell up. To many Vets like to brag about what they have. Stop it or your gonna lose it. You tube is a perfect example of this bragging. I deal with vets all the time and I tell them never share with the VA anything regarding guns and hunting or even fishing. those sob's are looking for something to create problems for vets. so take my advice and just stop talking about it at the VA or With anyone from the VA period.

You're missing the point. The VA C&P guy (that runs the whole thing) wants to report ALL mental health issues to DOJ as mental health issues. It isn't the VA that will report your guns. They report the mental health/conservatorship to the DOJ and the DOJ checks records, finds you have guns, then comes for them. VA may never know you have them.
