New York and Delaware weighing out “Civil Confiscation” bills.

Basically, a nurse could deem you “dangerous and have your guns and 2a rights taken away.

    Snippet:

“This legislation will protect our communities by restricting access to firearms for those who are considered a danger to themselves or others,” said Gov. John Carney in support of the legislation. “It will also ensure our health professionals and law enforcement are working more closely together when it comes to the issue of firearms.”

Health care workers can already 5150 you in California, AND we already have GVROs--with the limitation that only close family members (not including ex- or soon to be ex- spouses) living in the home and the police can apply.

Wouldn't it make better sense to expand the law to allow healthcare professionals to identify those that might be a "Danger to themselves or others", and refer the for immediate mandatory evaluation by a mental health professional, such that they can be held if they are dangerous? Oh, wait....that's a 5150.

I guess we don't want to use the tools that already exist, we just want an end run direct at the core right, not any particular condition or behavior.

That pretty much makes the real goals of such rules obvious.
