                  Media is the one saying it is a SKS - direct your ire at them. CBS has a far wider reach than Calguns, so it really doesn't matter what we call it - it matters what the media calls it, and right now they are calling it an SKS.

                  The article goes into a lot of detail, including a discussion of AK47 and AK74. And then still calls it a SKS.

                  Comments at the bottom of the article are worth reading, and some people are saying it was a 5.45 Saiga conversion per LE sources.
