Thousands sign petition to allow guns at Republican National Convention in Cleveland

I can guess how the Calguns crowd feels about this but let's hear from everyone anyway.

    Thoughts on this?

Could obviously be a big security concern for the candidates.

This is meant as a sarcastic anti-gun thing. It was started by anti-gun activists to ridicule and discredit the pro-gun community. I can't believe how few people know this.

I'm pretty sure it's the venue and not the party behind the no guns rule

If it went well it would be great for open carry. If it went badly it would hasten about a dismal finish for us.

If you want to sign the petition it's HERE

I'm not signing this petition and I think it's a bad idea to do so.

The convention is not a public place. It is like the "sterile" area of an airport, or a secured government building, and will have a similar or higher level of security. Concealed carry has never applied in "sterile" areas, which are secured and where entrants are screened. Instead of doing a petition to allow concealed carry at the GOP convention, why not ask for concealed carry in airport lounges? Because it's basically the same situation.

It's a troll petition by leftists trying to point out Republican/conservative hypocrisy over "gun free zones."

"Gun free zones" are fine in a sterile area like this - the convention will be protected by US Secret Service with magnetometers, bomb K9s, tactical team(s) on standby and other security safeguards.

This is not an unprotected business or public gathering with no real security except a minimum wage security guard checking purses for beer cans.

Awesome move by the Secret Service. The tards will be ticked off because their pathetic trap failed miserably.

You guys gotta admit though, it was a pretty good move by them to make this petition. I bet a lot of uneducated Facebookers will see this and think they have a real point.

I can see the click bait headline now..

It's genius, and given that 20,000 people signed it, it worked in their favour like gangbusters. Our "side" was grievously routed and out-manoevured by the anti-gunners by this move. I wish we could come up with something so clever.

They used the best troll bait known to man... "Barack HUSSEIN Obama"... sounds like a dog whistle to any true American, and they just flock to sign the petition. Almost 50k signatures.
Making guns illegal is as stupid as making drugs or prostitution illegal.

And if there was ANY lingering doubts....

"Thousands sign satirical petition to allow guns at Republican Convention"

Technically Incorrect: An online petition on Change.org claims that constitutional rights are being denied to those who want to bring a gun to the fight for the Republican Party's future. Except the petition is surely humorous.

"Yesterday morning, the dedicated staff of the Hyperationalist launched the Change.org petition posted below."

Is 'hypernationalist' another word for something else?
