This is next for California...20 rounds every 4 months

NY Bill A09340: Limit “Assault Weapon” Ammo Sales to 20 Rounds Every 4 Months
They all want an eventual ban, but it takes them a while to strangle the constitution so it comes in ever more infringing steps..

Provided, however, the sale of ammunition for assault weapons, as defined by subdivision twenty-two of section 265.00 of this
title, shall be limited to two times the capacity of an authorized weapon over a one hundred twenty day period.

Too vague. Won't stand. There are too many bolt rifles chambered in "assault rifle" rounds to be able to discern the difference between who own's an "assault rifle" and who owns a remington 700

          It is very true.
I posted the link to the actual bill. I know it is unbelievable, so I have repeated below so you will see it is very, very (sadly) real and true...

Is there any way in hell this is not an infringement on our right to keep and bear arms. Arms are no better than sticks or pitchforks without bullets.

There you go again applying common sense much as the founders did when they wrote the Second Amendment

The antis are deathly afraid of guns even though a tiny fraction of legally-acquired and owned guns are used in any crime.
They are afraid not because of crime (since illegal guns illegally possessed are responsible for most of that) they are afraid because it makes us the people powerful: the anti-gun elitists want all the power, not you the people. Otherwise who can they tell you what is best for you and be sure you'll be powerless to to resist? The first hing Mao and Stalin did was confiscate all the arms fro the people.

With a split 4-to-4 SCOTUS and the infringements NY State has already passed into law unchallenged, odds are good this will pass, get signed by NY's anti-gun governor, and will be unsuccessfully challenged in the courts.

How long before CA tries this? I predict it when Newsome is governor.

First came up as a proposal late last year http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1145656

Looks like they narrowed it from all ammo to only "assault weapon" ammo.
                Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

                  Thanks for the background.
                  Missed that late last year.

If this flies and it likely will, how long before we see a try in CA?

Then they'll limit total rounds in possession.

Then they'll just keep going until we have a total ban...just like they always planned to achieve from the very beginning but knew it would have been resisted outright. Lie and cheat because the end justifies the means; that is the hallmark of the leftist elitist statist. Total control turning citizens into subjects.

What a bunch of a55hats. Didn't they have a non-compliance issue with their AW registration. This will be ignored as well.

Looks like a placeholder more than anything else, the referenced section doesnt define the chamber for "assault rifle ammunition" so you could buy 10,000 rounds per day for your bolt action .223. Also no regulation on importing from out of state, good luck arguing in front of the court that bringing in more ammo from out of state is inherently less dangerous than buying ammo in-state.

Ezell already addressed that the right to train with your arms is included in your 2A rights.

So they constantly whine that people aren't trained.....but then want to make it impossible for them to train. Yea....that'll fly.

Your assumption is not quite accurate. NY Law has precisely defined what an "Assault Weapon" is consisting of a base definition and "Evil Features". they do not define the caliber but the law is clear that if the rounds operates in the AW, the law applies.

It is ambiguous: a 9mm round will operate in an MP5 AND a legal semi-auto Sig P226 for instance. Neither can hold more than 7 rounds. People have been arrested in NY State for having 7 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber because the gun is holding a total of 8 rounds.

Perhaps it won't pass...this time. But Cuomo sure likes it and they'll try again for certain. this is what California will be like within 5 years.
