Purchased new from LGS with tube and brace installed. Probably best to remove tube as well.

Buy a cod piece. Send letter to ATF asking for determination if resting pistol buffer tube against cod piece redesigns SB15 into a c*ckstock.
Make sure you include photos.

Unfortunately no one can answer this for certain, since the ATF's change in stance to now including intent is brand new, and then there is CA's separate SBR law.

No one though could be faulted for recommending you remove any unnecessary attachments from the rear of your pistol that could conceivably make your pistol easily shoulderable.
